I like to offer engagement photography (also called pre-wedding) sessions to all of my clients. And I am often asked if they are necessary and what the benefits of doing such a shoot before the wedding day are.

Most couples getting married lead very hectic lives, working or studying and also planning their dream wedding, so time can be precious.

1. Engagement photography sessions are good practice

An engagement photography session can be great practice for you and your partner when it comes to being photographed together. Let’s face it, the majority of us aren’t professional models who know exactly what to expect on a photo shoot. So an engagement photography session can be a great way of experiencing how it feels to be in front of the camera.
As the session progresses, the nerves and apprehension disappear and you will find you really start to really relax and be yourself.
Practice is also hugely beneficial for those prospective grooms out there who say they ‘hate photos’. The engagement shoot will put them at ease and show how relaxed it can be and that they can look great in photos.

Often on wedding days, couples poor little fur babies have to be left at home and miss out on all the fun. But not on an engagement shoot! I love when couples incorporate their pups, cats and even horses into their sessions.
