Old Government House Wedding | Emily + Andy
Old Government House & Room Three Sixty Wedding Photographer
I had a lot of fun recently photographing Emily and Andy’s Brisbane wedding.
Things started with the girls getting ready at the ultra-cool W hotel. This hotel has such a modern, fun and funky vibe and matched perfectly with the girl’s mood as they got ready. Lots of laughter and fun was had by everyone. Meanwhile the boys got ready at Andy’s family home, not before finishing off building a Lego Star Wars X-wing (as you do 😉 )
As this was a winter wedding and the light can go so quickly at this time of year, Emily and Andy chose to do a ‘first look’ prior to the ceremony. For those who haven’t heard about this, a First Look is when the Bride and Groom see each other before the ceremony and have their photo session prior to the ceremony. It is a great way to ensure you have plenty of time for those bridal party photos and relaxed portraits and also gives you plenty of time after the ceremony to catch up with guests without feeling the need to run off for more photos.
So the first look took place out the front of the Old Government House. It was so cool seeing Emily sneak up behind Andy and surprising him. It was then off for some photos at the nearby botanic gardens and surrounding sandstone buildings.
The actual ceremony then took place on the Kidney lawn of Old Government House. Such a great spot to tie the knot amongst the gardens and with the old sandstone building as a backdrop. And the light at this time of year is perfect.
Once the formalities of the ceremony were out of the way, Emily and Andy joined their guests in soaking in the last of the afternoon sun before making their way up to Room Three Sixty. Room Three Sixty is one of my favourite wedding venues as it is nice and close to the city and, as the name suggests, offers 360 degree views out over the Brisbane skyline.
Emily and Andy’s wedding reception was also a lot of fun, with lots of great speeches and hilarious games! And also some impromptu fireworks! 😉
